Full steam ahead on 'Afternoons' EP!
Another productive session last night working on our 'Afternoons' EP. Put finished guitar and vocals on the title track, and we're really pleased with the results so far! Toby Scissor was still full of winter cold but powered valiantly through his parts fulled by copious quantities of 'medicinal' Chilean red wine.
The tracklisting will be:
'H C Ecstatic'
(as yet untitled song, provisionally referred to as 'The French-sounding one')
'Slow motion traffic'
'Afternoons'
'Laugh at yourself'
Now we know what's on it, and how it'll sound, we'll start sketching sleeve art ideas... 24 pack of Crayola and guitarist-safe scissors at the ready, hey ho let's go!

Video from Cambridge Cornerhouse gig
For those who missed it, and for those who were there, here's some footage from Thursday's gig, filmed by the lovely Liz... 'Slow motion traffic', in glorious and atmospheric black and white. It's a bit dark, because the main lighting rig didn't seem to be switched on!

Gigs and pizzas in Camden
We had a great time playing The Enterprise in Camden on Saturday (25 Sept); thanks to everyone who came!
Before the gig we had fantastic pizza at Bar Centrale just down the road next to The Monarch. Huge pizzas, lovely salads, reasonable prices. So if you're looking for pre-gig noms, that's the place.

'Daylight Cinema' reviewed in Music Maker magazine
'Daylight cinema' is The Scissors' debut offering and has a very late 70's early 80's new wave feel about it. Plenty of energy, songs short and sweet, snappy half snarled vocals over stinging riffs and choppy rhythms, the occasional ska backbeat with psychedelic keyboards swirling behind the mix. Dislodged in time, yet a relevant retro hybrid for the present day, The Scissors clearly have their own sound but the musical references ring loud and clear and the band come over as an amalgam of so many who were around at that time, echoes of The Clash, The Teardrop Explodes, and Echo and the Bunnymen, and even touches of the Doors to go back further – it's quite a mix.

Scissors supporting The Quails, 15 May at Man On The Moon!
We're thrilled to be supporting The Quails on 15 May at Man On The Moon! After supporting Muse on their UK tour last year, the Quails strike out on their path to glory and make a welcome return to Cambridge, support comes from Stoke's Lost Scenes + Whisky Jax + The Scissors.
Indie-rock four piece The Quails have certainly made an impact on the music industry and are now set to play both Reading & Glastonbury this year.

'Rumours of The Scissors' demise have been greatly exaggerated'
'I can confirm (despite internet rumours to the contrary) that we're definitely playing tonight (18 Feb, Portland Arms) - but sadly this will be Sam's (almost) last gig with us on drums - he's moving on to other stuff outside the band, after his final gig with us in Camden the following week. So it'll be a fond (Cambridge) farewell to Sam tonight...'
— Stewart Scissor
