ABBA dabba doo!

For the festive season, we shall be destroying a selection of great works of art by much-loved 70s pop icons ABBA.  Come to the Portland Arms on 29 December for the R*E*P*E*A*T anti-xmas/new year party!
See us and a bunch of other Cambridge-based bands machete our way through the ABBA back catalogue!
Should be a riot and a half...

But which songs will we be doing?  You'll have to come along to find out!  Dressing up and surprises will be involved. You have been warned!

Live as can be!

Don't forget, we're next playing live on 24 November, back our regular haunt The Cornerhouse. Free entry, it's a no brainer!

Demos, new songs...

We're currently messing about recording demos and working out new songs. Definitely psych, maybe a bit of glamstompf in there too. Hmmm...
Are we inspired by Baudelaire's 'An invitation to the voyage'?  Will the next EP be called 'Colours and styles may vary'? Only time will tell!

Dress like the Scissors!

We know you admire the Scissors' sartorial elegance, so here's where you can get the natty threads and handsome foot apparel that we love:

Footwear by Underground

and retro threads from Jemporium vintage, Cambridge-based retro emporium of delight!

New choons and onwards into the autumn

The summer's been full of function and party gigs, and we're now working on new songs (might even be an acoustic guitar in there somewhere), expanding the Scissor sound a bit.
We're really looking forward to supporting the fantastic Jakil when their tour hits Cambridge in October (14 Oct, Man on The Moon). Check 'em out, and hopefully see you there!

Sunday 7 August 2011

Back to the 80s

We're busy rehearsing some choice 80s covers for a private party gig next week.  But some of them might find their way into our regular set!  We'll keep you guessing for now what they might be...
The 80s are back - just don't expect Flock of Seagulls haircuts...

Playing with Gunslinger at Ultrazang!

We're really excited to be playing at Ultrazang this Friday (4 March, PJ McGinty's in Ipswich), with Benjamin Bloom and the awesome (and loud) Gunslinger! Gunslinger is the new project from Alan Davey, former singer/bassist with the legendary Hawkwind! Benjamin Bloom is the former lead singer with Rosalita, and his new band is both melodic and theatrical. Promises to be a great night!

If you can't make it, we're also supporting Benjamin Bloom the following week when his tour hits Cambridge Haymakers...
