It's been a bit quiet on this website for a while (we mostly just post on Insta and Facebook these days), but the gig page has been updated with probably our last gigs of 2025.
Looking ahead, 2026 will be our 20th anniversary year, so we're planning some exciting stuff throughout to celebrate, starting in January! Watch this space...
We're not playing at Strawberry Fair itself this year (had a great time opening the Portland Ballroom Stage last year tho); but we ARE thrilled to be playing this fundraiser on 28 April, alongside Thy Last Drop, For The Hornets and Shifty Statues!
It's an early start (4.30pm). Gonna be a blast!
Don't forget, On 27 December we'll be supporting not only punk/new wave legends Department S, but also pub rock/proto punk legends Eddie and the Hot Rods, at Cambridge Junction.
We have a small allocation of cheap tickets too, so message us via Facebook if you want to get direct from us...
What better way to round off your Christmas fun, eh?
Our new single will be buy-able from 26 October on Bandcamp!
It's been a while since we've released new music... but here it is! Our new single, out this week, 'Monster Time'! A heady glam/punk-stomper full of Hallowe'en-shaped fun (although it's pretty much always Hallowe'en here at Scissor HQ), with a retro horror video to go with it!

We were thrilled to be able to play with the legendary Charlie Marshall aa few years ago, so we're doubly-thrilled to welcome him back to the UK in September! Us and Goddammit Jeremiah will be supporting Charlie when he plays the Blue Moon Cambridge on 21 September. Info below...
It's been a while, and it's a stage we've never had the honour of playing on before... but we're BACK at Cambridge's legendary Strawberry Fair this year, kicking things off at noon on The Portland Mutiny Stage! Strawberry Fair is always a blast, and we're really looking forward to being part of the fun (and hopefully, sun). See you there!

17 February at Cambridge Blue Moon
We had a blast celebrating our 15th anniversary (and helping to raise a bunch of cash for Pancreatic Cancer UK) at the Portland Arms recently, playing debut album 'Daylight Cinema' in its entirety. Big thanks to Mr No Face who organised the night, and to all who came and dug into their pockets! Also great sets from R J Archer & the Painful Memories, and Paul Stevens.
Looking forward, we've got demos of an album's worth of new songs and will be getting those into proper shape over the next couple of months hopefully.

We've been quiet for a bit (partly as two of us are just getting over bouts of Covid), but fear not! We're working on new stuff with a slightly new feel - electric 12-string and accordions have been involved, but who knows exactly where it'll lead us; and a trip to Cecil Sharpe House a short while back have infused lyrics with a bit of a folkloric vibe.
On the live front, there are things bubbling, so we might have some dates (possibly in new places/venues) to announce before too long.
Hang in there! Be rock. Be roll.
First gig up, fingers crossed, will be:
8 January 2022
THE SIX BELLS, CAMBRIDGE CB1 2HS
We've been doing this for 15 years! To celebrate. we've got a special gig lined up...
16 December 2021
The Blue Moon, Norfolk Street, Cambridge
with MR NO FACE, GODDAMMIT JEREMIAH, and SHIFTY STATUES
This will be a special 15th anniversary set; we'll be playing our debut album 'Daylight Cinema' for the first time ever live in its entirety!
Tickets £5 on the door.
See you there!
After having had an absolute blast supporting Toyah at Cambridge Junction, we're looking to celebrate the 15th anniversary of our first gig, back in December 2006. It's been a long time, and yet it doesn't feel like it sometimes - life in a flash, or in a jar? How did we get here? Where next?
Rest assured, there will be some sort of celebration in December, details TBA soon!
For now, enjoy some pics (taken by Steve Garry Holdway) from the Junction...
Gigs are BACK! And we're beyond thrilled to be supporting the legendary TOYAH on 29 October at Cambridge Junction!
From punk princess to cult stage actress, Toyah Willcox is a uniquely gifted performer and an inextinguishable flame. Charismatic, outspoken and impossible to categorise, she is one of Britain’s beloved household names – an award-winning rock legend as well as a much-loved stage/screen actress and music composer.
Ever wondered what floats the Scissors' collective boat? Where some of the inspiration came from? Here via Spotify is just a tiny selection of tunes that have in some small way informed what we do: psych, garage, weird 'tronica, punk, new wave, the blue bobbly liquorice allsorts...

Those nice people at German Shepherd Records have put all our recordings on their label together on one, easy-to-eat page!
